Control Strategy Development for a Bidirectional DC-DC Converter in Electric Vehicle Charging Systems

Abstract

Bidirectional DC-DC converters play an important role in the energy management system of electric vehicles by being responsible for the efficient conversion and transmission of electrical energy between the battery and other electronic devices of the electric vehicle. First, the topology of the bidirectional DC-DC converter is analyzed, and the applications in electric vehicles are based on this topology. Second, the control strategies of bidirectional DC-DC converters are summarized, and the advantages and disadvantages of the control strategies of bidirectional DC-DC converters are compared from the perspectives of traditional control strategies and nonlinear control strategies, respectively. Finally, the application of bidirectional DC-DC converters in on-board chargers is analyzed and summarized, and the outlook of the future development direction and challenges are presented.
